VertiGals Information & Calendar

VertiGals is a group of women who meet Wednesday mornings at 9:45am in front of the J.R. Simplot Lodge, January through March, to ski or snowboard and have fun! There is no cost to join VertiGals, but a lift ticket or Bogus Basin season pass is needed. This is a social group, not a group lesson.  All participants should be at least competent on the Green and Blue runs serviced by the chairlifts on the front side of the mountain.  This webpage is updated regularly and is THE VertiGals communication tool!  Visit us on Facebook:  www.facebook.com/vertigals

IMPORTANT: A SIGNED RELEASE FORM IS REQUIRED TO SKI WITH THE VERTIGALS.  EVERY NEW (1st time) PARTICIPANT MUST SIGN A RELEASE FORM FOR THE 2012-13 SEASON. Forms are available every Wednesday from the VertiGal leaders, or you can email vertigalsinfo@gmail.com and one will be forwarded to you.  
 
There are 16 volunteer leaders (these ladies are not instructors) who know their way around the mountain and ski at ability levels (conservative-intermediate to expert), on trail and off. You can choose to join any one of these groups for the day, depending upon your own ability and comfort level with the terrain and conditions. Look for the leaders in their VertiGal logo jackets, with badges designating their group level:
 
Green = front side groomed blue and green trails/slopes
Yellow = Intermediate backside groomed trails/slopes
Blue = Advanced intermediate/conservative expert backside groomed trails and some off trail as conditions permit. Check with your leader.
Red = Expert all-terrain and off trail, as conditions permit

• Please join us Wednesday, November 7, 2012 for the VertiGal Kick-off Party & Fashion Show!
The event is free to attend and all winter sports ladies are invited.  Appetizers, desserts and beverages provided.  7:00 pm at Greenwoods Ski Haus, 2400 Bogus Basin Rd 
 
• Alpine Skiing/Telemarking/Snowboarding begins on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Meet at 9:45 am on the snow in front of the J.R. Simplot Lodge, ready to go! We will take a few minutes to organize the groups, and depart from the base area at 10:00am. PLEASE BE ON TIME…the groups want to have a full morning of fun! We will have a potluck lunch on our opening day (see the calendar below). Afternoon skiing is optional.

• Want to carpool? Alpine days: meet 8:30am - 8:40am at the LDS Church parking lot on Cartwright Road (near Simplot Hill). If you see someone new, invite her to join you for the ride up! Nordic days: meet 9:00am. Please do not park in the Highlands parking lot (where the Bogus Basin sales office is located) or on Parkhill Dr- you risk getting your car towed.

• Potluck Lunches each month:  (see calendar below, for dates and details) at 12:30pm. Always a good time with great food!

• Sun Valley & Brundage Mtn Ski Trip(s):  (see calendar below, for dates.) These are all day, luxurious bus trips, lots of fun and very popular. We are considering going to Sun Valley in January, Brundage in March -- final plans pending. 

• VertiGals Nordic Program begins Thursday, January 3, 2013. Cross country skiing VertiGals meet on Thursdays January 3 - March 7 from 10:00am - 11:30am at the Nordic Center. Clinics on Skate or Classic technique at every ability level are offered each week.  Your Bogus Basin Alpine season pass is valid at the Nordic Center. If you wish to participate in the clinics, reserve your spot for the entire season in advance for a package price of $100 for 10 Thursdays of clinics.  Weekly clinic drop in fee is $15 and ski rentals are $10. Call the Nordic Center at 332-5390 to reserve a spot in the weekly clinics. NEW THIS SEASON -- January Wednesday night Nordic VertiGals! Starting at 6:30pm, $60 rental and walk-in lessons!  Every Wednesday night in January!  January 2, 9, 16, 24, 30
