11/19/2009
Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area honored Bob Greenwood and the City of Boise tonight for playing a hand in making Bogus Basin what it is today. The recognitions came during the 3rd annual Bridge Builders dinner, at Boise State University's Stueckle Sky Center.
• The JR Simplot Legacy Award went to the City of Boise for its role in supporting the on-going success of Bogus Basin throughout the years. Boise Mayor Dave Bieter accepted the award on behalf of the city. He shared his own personal Bogus Basin experience saying it’s where he proposed to his wife.
• Long-time Bogus Basin skier Bob Greenwood accepted The “Coach” Bill Everts Lifetime Service Award. Greenwood, who continues to serve on the Bogus Basin Recreational Association, is a former Bogus Basin ski instructor, former retail owner and operator of Greenwood’s Ski Haus and for many years the organizer of the Primetimers ski program. He also served on the board of directors from the late 1950’s through the early 1970’s. Greenwood, or “Greenie” as his friends know him, exemplifies selflessly giving of time, talent and expertise.
Board emeritus and past chairman of Bogus Basin Recreational Association, Tom Morgan emceed the event that was attended by more than 330 Bogus Basin supporters. Bogus Basin history writer, Eve Chandler also helped present last night’s awards. “Boise really came through for Bogus in the 1950’s when it looked like the area could have closed without the help of the city” Chandler added.
