LEADERSHIP IN COMMUNITY PUBLIC HEALTH AWARD
5/15/2009
At the Friday May 15, 2009 Central District Health Department Board of Health meeting, the Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area was presented with the first Leadership in Community Public Health award. Board President Steven Scanlin and Central District Health Director Russell Duke presented Bogus Basin General Manager Mike Shirley with the award for the efforts by the resort to reduce the exposure patrons, especially children, have to second-hand smoke. Bogus Basin moved ash trays away from the entrances to the lodges and put "No Smoking" signs in the lift mazes thereby reducing everyone’s exposure to second-hand smoke.
