NATURE WALK at BOGUS BASIN

6/2/2009
To celebrate National Get Outdoors Day on June 13th, the Boise National Forest will host a FREE nature walk at Bogus Basin.  The walk is open to the public, admission is free, and pre-registration is not required.  The walk will be about two hours long on moderately steep terrain.
Participants should meet at Frontier Point Lodge (Nordic center) at 10:00 am.  Hikers are encouraged to bring light jackets, sturdy walking shoes and water. If hikers want to “make a day of it” they should also bring a brown bag lunch or picnic.  No food or beverage services will be available on the mountain.
“In summer, it’s fun for the whole family to get outside and discover some of the plants and animals that live in the Boise National Forest,” said Forest Botanist Edna Rey-Vizgirdas.
To reach Frontier Point Lodge, head north on Bogus Basin Road (Harrison Boulevard crosses over Hill Road and becomes Bogus Basin Road).  Drive 16 miles up Bogus Basin Road until you reach the resort entrance/main parking lot.  Continue 1/4-mile through the main parking lot and past the tubing hill.  Frontier Point Lodge will be ahead of you, at the Pioneer Road junction.
For more information, call the Boise National Forest Supervisor’s Office at 373-4100.
