Bogus Basin Opens Thursday, Jan 19
Bogus Basin Will Open Thursday, January 19th
For Immediate Release January 18, 2012
A big, early morning storm has delivered nearly 10” of snow to Bogus Basin, providing the mountain what it needs for a “front side” opening. The non-profit recreation area will open for the 2012 winter season, tomorrow, Thursday, January 19th. Chairlifts 1, 2, 4, 7 and a moving carpet will run. Operating hours for Thursday and Friday will be: 10am-4:30pm, on weekends the area opens earlier, with a 9am start.
“More snow is forecasted and our crews will work through the night to keep the Bogus Basin Road cleared,” said Gretchen Anderson, spokeswoman. “We ask that guests wait until 8am (after the plows have worked both sides of the road) to travel Bogus Basin Road.” It’s advised that motorists use 4-wheel drive, snow tires or traction devices while on Bogus Basin Road.
As Bogus Basin receives more snow, more of the mountain will open (the backside, night skiing/riding and the Pepsi GoldRush Tubing Hill). Day tickets will be discounted to $30 until more of the mountain opens. The Jacksons discount will be honored.
The Nordic Center will be open 10:00am-4:30pm, Thursday and Friday. For more information from the Nordic Center call 332-5390. The Pepsi GoldRush Tubing Hill will open once crews can move enough snow to create berms for safety.
The J.R. Simplot and Frontier Point lodges will be open as well as Black Diamond Sports. The Pioneer Lodge will be open for restroom and locker access only. Our Bogus Basin Ski & Snowboard School will offer its full complement of lessons. Registered January Session II Ski and Snowboard school lessons and nordic lessons will continue as scheduled.
Guests can get the most up-to-date mountain conditions and current weather by logging onto www.bogusbasin.org or by calling the snowphone at 342-2100.
