Nordic Lessons & Special Programs

Wondering which technique or style you are interested in learning? Classic or diagonal (traditional) skiing is as simple as walking and gliding with poles. Your skis track in a grooved trail for added support. Skating uses both poles to propel you forward while the legs skate along like an ice skater or roller-blader. This is a newer, faster version of cross-country skiing. Both techniques require specific equipment, and each provides fantastic aerobic exercise. All lessons meet at Frontier Point Nordic Lodge and Education Center.

PRICES AND PROGRAMS FOR THE 2009-10 SEASON

PASSPORT PROGRAM $99/person

Geared toward the new Nordic skier, the program consists of four group lessons and includes rentals. Nordic Passport graduates get to use Nordic Center equipment (a few limitations apply) for the rest of the season. Class size is limited so please sign up in advance by phone 332-5390, stop by the Nordic Center, or visit the Bogus Basin Downtown office at 2600 Bogus Basin Road

Passport Early Season:

  • Offered in December and January (schedule below)
  • Your first two lessons will be diagonal, the second two will be skate ski lessons
  • Complimentary Nordic equipment rental for 2009-10 season
  • Complementary 2009-10 Nordic season pass upon completion of the 4 lessons
  • Weekend and Weekday lessons start at 12 noon
  •  Night lessons begin at 6:30pm

    December Sessions:

         Saturday/Sunday:  12,13,19, 20
         Holiday Break:  December 26, 27 & January 2, 3

    January Sessions:

         Thursday:  7, 14, 21, 28
         Saturday:  9, 16, 23, 30
         Sunday:  10, 17, 24, 31
         Tuesday/Thursday Night:  5, 7, 12, 14

Passport Late Season:

  • Offered in February and March (schedule below)

GROUP LESSONS - $30/person

  • All ability levels; skate or classic technique
  • Lessons offered daily at 10:00am,12:00pm & 2:00pm
  • Evening group lessons are available at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and include complementary rental equipmen. Reservations must be made for all evening lessons!
  • Lessons last 1 hour for 1 or 2 students, and 1.5 hours with larger groups

Little Vikings Youth Program

This youth program for beginners is designed to share the fun of Nordic skiing with kids from 5 to 9 years of age by introducing techniques, playing games and having a great time on skis! Sundays at 1:00pm - 2:30pm.

Bogus Basin Youth Ski League

Our intermediate youth program is designed for kids ages 10 and older who are ready for a little more challenge. The focus of this program will include: technique, development , fitness, fun and the opportunity to race. Sunday afternoons from 3:30pm - 5pm.

VertiGals Nordic Program

Join our women's program that combines instruction with a social atmosphere. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in front of the fireplace after skiing. Either skate or diagonal lessons - all levels are welcome! Thursdays at 10:00am - 11:30am

January 7th - March 11th 10 lessons (includes trail fees) $80
Drop-ins (per lesson) $10
  • Rental packages available for $6/lesson for students
  • Potluck by our beautiful fireplace after skiing on January 21

Full Moon Family Friday Nights

Join us for a complete evening of skiing under the full moon, music and a buffet-style meal one Friday of each month: January 29, February 26 & March 26, 2010

  • Lodge is open from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
  • Group lessons for all family members (ages 7+ up) at 6:30pm – 8:00pm............$10/person
  • Skate or diagonal technique lessons available
  • Rental package is $6 per person for students
  • Dinner tickets extra
